Tax Court

When the IRS proposes to add tax to a taxpayer’s account, they must first ask the taxpayer to agree and if they don’t agree, the IRS issues a Notice of Deficiency. If the taxpayer files a Tax Court Petition, the US Tax Court gains jurisdiction over the matter until it is resolved.
